With the increase usage of pesticide usage at fruit farms, it’s becoming increasingly important to wash your fruit before consuming it. Washing off pesticides will not completely reduce pesticide levels as some fruit have residues sealed under a coating of shelf-life-extending wax. But it is worth washing what you can off.
Here’s how to clean fruit using Apple Cider Vinegar:
This method is best for big batches of fruit.
- Fill up the sink with water, add a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, stir and soak for 10 minutes.
You may also try spraying the fruit with an apple cider vinegar and water mixture. Leave it on for around 5 minutes before rinsing off and eating.
The other alternative is to use Vinegar, here’s how:
- Fill your sink with water and add 1 cup of Vinegar and stir.
- Add all your fruit and let it soak for 10 minutes
The water will be dirty! But the fruit will sparkle with no wax or dirty film.
