Throughout this site, we aim to show you what makes The King’s College and Preparatory School the special school that has enriched the lives of so many students. The King’s College and Preparatory School is a modern school with traditional,
The King’s College and Preparatory School is a school that believes that God sent His only son into this world to give us a chance of everlasting life. To all those who choose Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, God promises a new life on earth and an eternal life after death. What a joy and privilege it is to share and model this truth in our school and community.
Preparatory is the foundation phase of formal schooling. The Preparatory programme is specifically designed to prepare students for their entry into the Intermediate Phase.
Small class sizes (25 max) together with the commitment of carefully selected Christian staff, ensure these young people are provided with an exceptional foundation to their formal education. All of our classrooms are well equipped and a comfortable and productive learning environment is provided.
We are convinced that formal education should be both academically challenging and interesting. Classrooms are a kaleidoscope of coloured posters, mobiles and a host of other visual learning aides. The school calendar is filled with activities: open days, inter grade singing competitions, cultural and sports’ events, musicals, excursions and other special events. One of the favourite weekly events is the students’ fellowship time which is part of our Life Orientation programme. This is an enjoyable programme designed to nurture a growing relationship between God and His children. Drama, music, movement, teaching and praise and worship provide a rich atmosphere where the students come to appreciate their value to God and one another.
Our Intermediate Phase students (Senior Preparatory) are proof that school can be fun, stimulating and a growing experience.
Our classrooms are places of interest, friendship, order, respect and hard work. A thorough Preparatory school education is the best foundation for success in the College and beyond. While there is major focus on each student acquiring a sound knowledge of the 3 R’s, he/she has the opportunity to learn contemporary IT skills, grow in their knowledge of the arts and most importantly, grow in Christian character.
While the Preparatory school covers the same material as that in the government curriculum, it does so from a carefully thought-through Biblical basis. In doing so, these young people have the privilege of understanding the world in which they live from an eternal and meaningful perspective.
The school is proud of the development of our students’ computer skills.
An extensive monitoring system in the Preparatory school identifies those needing extra help. Where necessary, children are referred to our specialised Learning Assistance Department. This department has helped many children improve basic competencies, achieve at higher levels and increase their self-confidence.
The Performing Arts Department of the Preparatory School presents some of the best Preparatory School productions you will ever see. Often written by our staff, these productions (Eisteddfods, musicals, choirs and bands) engage the skills of a wide range of students. Music, taught by our specialist staff, is a major part of the Preparatory Curriculum. Students wishing to take private instrumental and voice lessons can do so on-campus.
Specialist PE staff meet weekly with students to develop their sports and general coordination skills. The Preparatory School is a member of the Private Schools League. Through this, students have the opportunity to enjoy a well monitored interschool sports programme. More gifted athletes achieve regional, provincial, and sometimes national team selection in their particular sport.
A picture of the Preparatory School would not be complete without reference to the pastoral aspect of life at The King’s. Part of each teacher’s vocation is a commitment to the spiritual and psychological welfare of our students. A major part of the weekly assembly and the Christian Living programme is devoted to this goal. Our role is proactive in serving the special needs of the students.
Our goal is to see each student grow in knowledge and wisdom and to develop confidence in the fact that they are special people who can affect their world for the cause of Christ by benefiting those around them.Facebook Comments
